I WOULD like to clarify the position of campaigners against the traffic-calming proposals for West Bewdley.

We are not demanding a a say over proposals for a scheme in Wribbenhall.

This is a matter for Wribbenhall people, and if they are concerned to ensure that their views are properly represented they should work with their councillors. We would of course be happy to give advice based on our experience.

We have not sought to influence the Wribbenhall proposals, other than to remind Bewdley Town Council that Wribbenhall residents did vote in the town poll, and that the proportion in Wribbenhall voting for schemes "closely targeted on known danger points" was nearly seven to one.

In respect of the scheme west of the river, representatives of the campaigning group were invited by the county council to meet in order to ensure that residents wishes, as expressed in the poll, are adhered to. This process, which has been approved by the town council, is on-going.
