TEWKESBURY CC finished the league season with an emphatic eight- wicket win over a poor Witcombe team to secure runners-up spot in the County League for the second successive season.

Witcombe batted first and were soon in trouble. All the bowlers took wickets but the pick was bowling debutant Steve Bowers who took 4-16 as Witcombe subsided to 123 all out.

The reply was a positive one as Paul Baker, on his return from injury, led the way with an aggressive 48.

Greg Ashby chipped in with 28, but it was left to Raj Choudhuri (26no) and Orazio Santalucia (16no) to complete the victory in just 25 overs.

The club's second team finished second in their league after a 90-run defeat of Down Hatherley in which there were good performances from Matt Scanlon and Tim Parker as Hatherley struggled to 90-6. The third team also recorded a victory in the C & G League with Darren Smith scoring his maiden fifty for the club.
