TEWKESBURY Sports Pool League celebrates its 21st season this year when the action gets under way on Sunday.

Chairman, Ady Williams, and his committee are pleased to welcome back all players old and new and are pleased to announce new sponsors in the form of Tewkesbury Sports Shop who join current sponsors Wood's Fruit and Veg in providing welcome support.

The forthcoming campaign promises to be an exciting one with a number of stronger sides brought together in an attempt to bring an end to the dominance of Nomads.

Having won the district title for the last six seasons the current champions will have to be at their best to defend it successfully.

Last year was their toughest yet as they narrowly edged out Hayward's Army and Alpina Bush Cutters.

The new season also incorporates the usual house singles, doubles and triples competitions which get under way in November and also offers league players the opportunity to play for the Matthew Stuart Trophy and the Presidents Cup - the former doubling up as a charity fundraiser.

All competitions take place at Rekoons Snooker Club with the finals taking place next April.

The league is also keen to continue its support of players in their quest to play at a higher level.

The forthcoming season promises to be one of the closest yet. Should anyone wish to receive any information on the league or have any questions about joining for next season, then log on to the internet at www.tdpl.org or ring Ady Williams on 01684 299103.
