THE new man at the helm of a Stourport business group should not be short on negotiating skills.
Brian Humphreys, 57, a trained hostage negotiator and former head of Worcester Police's CID, has taken over as co-ordinator of the Sandy Lane Business Association.
His job is to push forward projects to upgrade Sandy Lane Industrial Estate on the edge of Stourport.
Top of the agenda is a plan to link the estate to the bus network to attract more workers for the estate's firms.
"Employees find it difficult, especially school leavers who can't find their own transport. Even getting here for an interview can be problematic," said Mr Humphreys.
"We've already got the roadsweepers sweeping the roads," he added.
To give the association more clout he is trying to up the membership from its current level of about 60 per cent of the estate's 100 firms.
