AT last it would appear that things are happening with the Regal. Plans are now out and, in my opinion look very good. If the management run the cinema with the same amount of imagination as the cinema in Stratford, I am sure it will be a success.
They could run music nights, have touring comics, and show non-mainstream films. Combine this with the draw of the restaurant and the bowling alley, and it augurs well for the Regal.
May I take this opportunity to thank everyone in Evesham who came to the public meetings, and lobbied to keep the cinema open, when it first came on the market. Also to the Journal for their support.
Without the listing of the building, and your support, we, almost certainly, would not be talking about the future of the Regal, as the only people interested in the building at the outset were property developers.
We are not 'home and dry' yet but at least there is a future for the Regal, and we should be thankful for that. Once again thank you to everyone who helped to keep a cinema.
MARTIN HAMMON, Tom's Barbers Shop, Bridge Street, Evesham.
