A MOTHER and her young daughter who was about to start school have been killed in a horrific car accident.

Debbie Mason, 33, who lived in Kidderminster until she moved to Brierley Hill six years ago, and four-year-old Molly, died in Hereford.

The pair were travelling home after visiting family on a farm when their Ford Escort was involved in an accident with an articulated lorry and two other cars a mile from the city.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Pat Harvey, of George Street, Kidderminster, is trying to get through the death of her daughter and granddaughter - who helped her beat cancer - by remembering the love they brought other people.

"She touched the lives of everybody who met her because she just had this way with her," Mrs Harvey said about Debbie, who attended the former Harry Cheshire High School in Kidderminster.

"She was so bubbly - she lit up the room when she walked in."

She added: "Debbie and Molly had a lot in common. Wherever there was one there was the other. Debbie was very devoted."

Debbie and Molly died on August 22 at about 2pm. The police released details last week.

Mrs Harvey, 57, has been in remission from Hodgkinson's Disease - cancer of the lymph glands which claimed the life of her husband Peter 20 years ago - for almost three years and points to Molly as one of the main reasons she pulled through.

"I've decided that's why she came into the world - to get me over the cancer," she said.

"Molly was 10 months-old when I was diagnosed and I was determined that I'd get to see her grow up. I had to fight the cancer.

"She was one of those children. I always used to say she's been here before. She knew things you didn't expect a four-year-old girl to know."

Following her husband's death at just 37, Mrs Harvey told how the family, including her son Dean, now 35, became even closer. "A lot of people couldn't understand the closeness. It was a special bond. Every single day Debbie needed to speak to me."

She added: "I'm totally overwhelmed by the number of people who have got in touch with me by telephone and letter and the cards sent since the accident.

"It's just nice to know that so many people care."
