A DROITWICH teenager who attacked an 11-year-old boy for calling his sister names has been jailed.

Carl Holden, 18, of Charland Court, Westlands, pleaded guilty to assault when he appeared before Worcester magistrates.

Paul Whitfield, prosecuting, said the 11-year-old was walking towards Westlands from town when he saw Holden and another male approaching.

"He felt something hard hit him on the back of the neck and he stumbled to the ground," he said.

"The defendant was punching and kicking him on the floor. He tried to protect himself and didn't retaliate."

Magistrates heard that the victim got to his feet only to be attacked from behind again and knocked to the ground.

"He was kicked to the ground while the defendant punched and kicked him on the head and body," said Mr Whitfield.

Mr Whitfield told the court the defendant had wanted to teach the boy a lesson.

"Holden told police he would do it again if he carried on calling his sister names," he said.

Richard Wilkes, defending, said: "The victim had been threatening his sister and he was protective towards her.

"He does regret what he did and there is remorse there now.

Holden also pleaded guilty to driving with no licence, no insurance and no MOT on three separate occasions.

He was sentenced to five months in prison, banned from driving for nine months and given eight penalty points on his licence.
