HEARTS of Oak: Nelson's Navy was the subject of an illustrated talk by Mr Bowden, the first part of which was the story of Nelson's life from his birth in 1758, the son of a Norfolk parson, his rapid rise through the ranks in the Navy to become a much loved and respected admiral and superb tactician, victor of sea battles against the French, culminating in his death at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1812.

The second part of Mr Bowden's talk was a recording of a presentation narrated by Richard Baker, accompanied by slides of contemporary drawings.

Mr Bowden concluded his talk with a description of the aftermath of the Battle of Trafalgar and what happened to the various personalities involved.
