HEADLESS Cross Ladies kick-off their season at home on Sunday against Southam United Ladies (Abbey Stadium 2pm ko), writes Lynda Morrison.

Cross finished third last year and Manager Rob Auld has made seven new signings to give a bigger squad for the new campaign.

Experienced players include Shelley Dixon, a centre-half who started at Headless Cross, but went to play for Bromsgrove and Redditch and has now returned, ex-Redditch striker Mandy Ellicott and another centre half from Wolves.

Auld commented: "The squad is looking strong for the new season and we hope to go one better and gain automatic promotion this year."

Redditch United Women continued their pre-season preparations with a 3-3 draw against Rushall Olympic and kick off the season a week on Sunday against Knowle with the venue to be confirmed.
