YOUNGSTERS from across Wyre Forest had a "whale" of a time as they paraded through the streets of Kidderminster in sea-themed costumes.

The march, featuring more than 350 children, celebrated the success of the district's summer playschemes.

Many of the young paraders donned fancy dress for the walk from Wyre Forest Glades Leisure Centre through the town centre on Thursday.

Some 6,000 children took part in four weeks of Kids Klubs at 11 venues across the district.

Rob Preston, Wyre Forest District Council's play development officer, said this year's parade was the best ever.

"It was fantastic to see so many children who had put a lot of time and effort into their costumes and who really relished the opportunity to show them off."
