EDWARD Fox stars in the revival of one of Terence Rattigan's most celebrated plays at Malvern Theatres next week.

The actor, who gave a BAFTA award-winning performance in television's Edward and Mrs Simpson, appears alongside Simon Ward and Polly Adams in The Winslow Boy, revived on the 25th anniversary of the playwright's death.

Rattigan set The Winslow Boy on the eve of the First World War when Naval cadet Ronnie Winslow is expelled from Osborne College, aged 14, accused of stealing and cashing a five shilling postal order.

His father Arthur (Edward Fox) and suffragette sister (Lucy Akhurst) employ top QC Sir Robert Morton (Simon Ward) to argue the boy's innocence . . . but at what price is justice?

Gradually, Arthur Winslow's health and fortune deteriorate and the lives of all involved are affected as the legal battle provokes a national frenzy.

A Malvern Theatres spokesman said: "A compelling and deeply moving tale of passion and politics unfolds as it becomes clear there are bigger issues at stake than proving the innocence of Ronnie Winslow."

The Winslow Boy runs at Malvern from Monday, September 2, until Saturday, September 7.

Tickets cost £12-20 from the box office on 01684 892277, or online at www.malvern-theatres.co.uk.
