THREE Wyre Forest men have appeared before Torbay magistrates charged with attempting to smuggle half a ton of tobacco in to South Devon.
With a fourth man from Wolverhampton, they were remanded in custody at Torquay Magistrates Court.
They were charged with evasion of £56,800 of excise duty on 500kg of hand-rolling tobacco.
The court heard it was found on the motor cruiser, Trio, moored off Galmpton on Sunday.
Wayne Cooper, 31, of Beaulieu Close, Kidderminster, John Jones, 24, of Sandy Lane, Stourport, Oliver Delahay, 22, of Dunlin Drive, Kidderminster and Paul Western, 31, of Wolverhampton, will next appear in court via a video link on Tuesday at Torquay Magistrates Court.
