WITH reference to the proposed Queensway Estate traffic-calming scheme in Bewdley (Shuttle/Times & News, August 22) it is my understanding that the rat run problems only started after the junction by the Catchems End Fish Bar was altered.
This now forces traffic wishing to go to Bewdley town centre approaching the junction from the Habberley Road to turn left, go towards Kidderminster, and then go round the traffic island at the start of the bypass and then head back towards Bewdley, normally in a long queue of traffic.
If a mini-roundabout had been introduced at the junction, probably costing a lot less money, then drivers would not have been tempted to take the soft option of using the Queensway Estate as a shortcut.
