I WRITE in response to the proposed development in the Grangers Lane/Rough Hill Drive area.

First, I would like to thank the person who wrote to you (Letters, August 21) and know that someone supports our views on the environment.

Our countryside seems to be disappearing rapidly and we leave a legacy of bad decisions made by the council for our children to bear. We have already seen the destruction of the oak trees in other areas of Redditch.

To destroy the one in Grangers Lane/Towbury Close would exacerbate the pollution and noise levels in the area, along with destroying the wildlife in the area.

My own children have spent many occasions picking berries, looking at the plant life, making rubbings of fallen leaves and watching the sheep before they had to be culled.

We wonder why our children become a problem in later life but we still take away areas that can take their interest and gain respect for their environment.

Letters to the council seem to fall on deaf ears. It would be nice if they took the time to come to the site and see exactly what we are trying to save.
