MAGISTRATES in Worcester have lifted a Warndon man's bail conditions - so he can jet off to Spain for a month-long holiday.

Justin Wynn appeared before the city's bench yesterday charged with attempted theft.

Conditions of his bail had been to live at his house in Goldsmith Road, report to police officers in Worcester twice a week and keep out of shops in the city centre.

But, after representations from solicitor Mark Sheward, the three-strong bench agreed to scrap the conditions for four weeks so the 23-year-old could enjoy a summer holiday in Malaga.

The 23-year-old had been due to stand trial yesterday for allegedly stealing razor blades from Boots the chemist in the High Street on Thursday, May 2.

The 10-packet haul was said to be worth almost £140, but Wynn denied taking them.

Yesterday, minutes before the half-day trial started, Liz Tweed, prosecuting on behalf of the Crown, dropped the theft charge and reduced it to attempted theft.

She told the court she had been shown CCTV footage of the incident.

Immediately after the charge was altered, Mr Sheward - Wynn's solicitor - asked for the case to be adjourned.

He told the court he wanted more time to take further instructions from his client with a view to Wynn entering a plea.

The bench adjourned the case until Friday, October 4 - specifically so that Wynn could take the four-week sunshine break with his family.

The magistrates released him on conditional bail.

When he returns to Britain, the 23-year-old must live at his home address.

He must also report to Worcester Police Station every Monday and Thursday, and stay out of stores in the city centre.
