LEADERS Evesham out-classed Bewdley who were missing two front-line batsmen in Worcestershire Saturday League Division Two.

Despite Steve Odell's 38 and 28 from Ewan Peer, Bewdley were bowled out for 112 and eventually lost by seven wickets.

The visitors were never able to recover from a dismal start which left them at 45-6 though Mike Harris made an impressive first-team debut.

Evesham, who included ex-England player Neal Radford, had no difficulty in reaching their target.

Bewdley crowned a poor weekend with a six-wicket home defeat to Worcester Nomads on Monday.

Batting first on a good wicket, Bewdley were restricted to a modest 149 as only Robert Combes (36 not out) impressed with his determination.

Nomads knocked off the runs in 37 overs to leave their Wyre Forest opponents sixth in the table.

On Monday, Bewdley seconds had to settle for a draw at Worcester Nomads.

David Jones and Mark Hudson both bowled 20 overs, taking 6-63 and 2-64 respectively as Nomads were restricted to 233 after a flying start.

David Meek and Steve Brown increased the run rate in reply and Bewdley had a chance of victory.

But wickets fell regularly, leaving Mark Guest and Cyril Ramsey to play out the last four overs.

Young Bewdley Cavaliers acquitted themselves well at Colwall in the Third Teams Double League but were outplayed by a stronger side.

Robert Crane's 48 not out was Bewdley's highlight.

Bewdley defeated Kings Norton by 39 runs in a Sunday friendly.

David Mills, Andy James and Peter Mauger batted well, while Simon Higgs took two early wickets and 13-year-old Richard Harris claimed five victims.
