HADZOR Hall has finally been bought for around £4m by Neil Grinnall Homes Limited.

The purchase will now see the Grade Two-listed mansion and some of the other buildings on the site turned into 71 Georgian style homes.

The 54-acre spot contains a whole host of different buildings, some dating back to the 1770s, and once featured Italian gardens.

Company director Neil Grinnall plans to begin work in the late summer.

The task is expected to take two years to complete, at a cost of about £25m.

Simon Quantrill, a spokesman Knight Frank said: "Hadzor Hall was an interesting sale to handle given its eclectic mix of buildings.

"When we put it to the market we received interest from a broad section of prospective buyers and had a significant number of viewings.

"However, due to the unusual mix and style of the buildings, it became clear that a residential redevelopment was the most viable option".

"Working with planners, developers and consultants, we eventually gained support from the local authorities.

"Having been called in by the Secretary of State, the Inspector has now found in our favour," added Mr Quantrill.

Neil Grinnall will have a particularly personal interest in the development, as he plans to restore the Main Hall to its former glory before moving in himself.
