VICTIMS of a "horrendous" crash are deemed "lucky to be alive" by members of the emergency services who attended the seen.
One driver suffered serious head and leg injuries in last Saturday's smash on the A38, near a lay-by between Martin Hussingtree and Copcut.
He had to be cut out of grey Ford Escort car by firefighters and was in a "great deal of pain and distress," according to Sub Officer Gary Jay who was at the scene.
The man, thought to be in his 20s, was described by police yesterday (Tuesday) as "comfortable".
The crash, which happened at around 2.50am, shut the road for around six-and-a-half hours and also involved a silver Peugeot 205 Gti, and a green Iveco lorry, travelling towards Worcester.
