KIDDERMINSTER man Cpl Liam Carvill has praised the Duke of Edinburgh for his interest and willingness to listen to all levels of the regiment.
The 29-year-old spoke to the Duke as he visited displays of the regiment's work in Kosovo.
Cpl Carvill, a member of the Hussars' reconnaissance troop, said the Duke took a real interest in what he had to say and asked many questions about the troop's work.
"He really gave you a chance to put your point across and was very interested in what we had to say," he said.
"He asked me about the Scimitar reconnaisance vehicle and about the tour in Kosovo."
But the corporal, who lives at the German barracks, said speaking to the Duke had not been as nerve-wracking as the three weeks of rehearsals with officers to ensure everything went smoothly on the day.
"The Prince was very easy to talk to and really seemed to care about what the Hussars are doing," he said.
