Defender Hinton picked-up Harriers second booking on 37 minutes for kicking the ball away after conceding a foul.
Broughton should have done better on 43 minutes but after a good burst through the centre he chose to shoot instead of pass and put his 20-yarder straight at the Lincoln keeper.
Lincoln striker Cropper was cautioned on 44 minutes for kicking the ball away.
Harriers put together a lively ending to the first half without grabbing the equaliser
