Ian Britton's Harriers got their season off to an entertaining start at home to Lincoln with a 1-1 draw that featured a red card and a missed penalty.
Harriers pulled themselves level after falling behind to defender Richard Logan's 11th minute header.
Striker Bo Henriksen grabbed the crucial goal for the home side on 59 minutes, diving to spectacularly head home Sean Parrish's right-wing free kick.
But Harriers, who recovered well after a poor first half, should then have taken all three points.
Lincoln were reduced to 10 men seven minutes from time with the dismissal of forward Dene Cropper.
And then Drewe Broughton saw a penalty saved by keeper Alan Marriott on 85 minutes after Henriksen was bundled over.
It was two points lost for Harriers but they had been well out of sorts in the first half, struggling to string passes together and often defending on the edge.
But they improved in the final 45 minutes with Henriksen showing his class up-front.
Harriers travel to Bournemouth on Tuesday for the second league game of the season.
