PIRATES are set to invade Worcestershire later this month when treasure hunters are sent around the county as part of a pub's competition.

It will be the second year that the Old Cross pub at Langley, near Oldbury, West Midlands, has organised a charity treasure hunt, which this year will be taking place on Sunday, May 28.

Twenty-two teams of four will be sent out on the road from the pub and given clues to follow a trail which willhead south around a number of Worcestershire pubs.

With one person in each group being the designated driver, teams will have to buy a drink in each of the pubs before they are given their next clue. Their route will take them to Worcester, Droitwich, Evesham, Pershore, Wyre Piddle, Peopleton and Inkberrow.

Challenges will also be set - such as participants having their photograph taken with a policeman - and the members of team who complete the hunt quickest is set to receive a cheque for £400 for their chosen charity.

Old Cross landlord Trevor Ford said: "We did it last year when we sent teams north and it was just a great laugh."
