I AM writing with regard to the report on the front page of the Shuttle/Times and News of July 4 concerning the tragic case of a Kidderminster man who on suffering a heart attack had to wait for an ambulance to come from Worcester.

Unfortunately, when they arrived to administer treatment it was to no avail.

This highlights once again the precarious ambulance cover for the Wyre Forest area.

Since the downgrading of Kidderminster Hospital and the loss of the A&E department, this service has been stretched to breaking point, trying to cope with the extra distances required in taking all emergency cases to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

Unfortunately, until the powers-that-be admit that the decision to close A&E at Kidderminster was a massive blunder, for which heads should have rolled long ago, and re-open it as quickly as possible, there will be many more tragic cases to report in the future.
