PLANS to have every store in the Kingfisher Centre joining in a major initiative to stamp out retail crime by Christmas have been announced.

About 40 stores out of 140 in the centre have joined the retail crime operation, formed to share information about known shoplifters and troublemakers through a radio system.

The initiative, which has been in operation for almost two years, has so far resulted in 12 people being banned from the centre.

The operation has formed close links with the police and Mr Berry said as the centre was expanding so much, links with other town centres were being made.
