THE success of a pilot scheme to provide a free, confidential information and support service to young people in Redditch has prompted bids to set up similar projects across the town.

The Time 4U scheme, set up in Winyates a year ago, has been so successful four other schemes have been planned for Church Hill, Batchley, Woodrow and Smallwood.

A multi-agency steering group of people from Worcestershire Sexual Health Unit, Redditch Council, Worcestershire Youth Service and the Connexions Redditch Service has now been organised to look at spreading the successful scheme.

Time 4U is staffed by a youth worker and a health worker, with input from a Connexions personal adviser.

Sessions are usually held outside school hours, in an informal atmosphere with music, magazines, refreshments and space to 'chill' and in settings known to be 'young people friendly', like youth and community centres.

Business Plans to develop the new Time 4Us have been produced and are waiting to be submitted to the Young Persons HIMP Group in early autumn.
