BROMSGROVE and Redditch Athletic Club's ladies team found the winning formula again to win the third meeting of the Midlands Veteran Track and Field south division at Worcester.

The ladies made it three wins out of three with their victory on Thursday, July 4, although the men's team could only finish fourth.

Julie Wakelam won the over 35s high jump with a 1.25-metre season best as well as the long jump. She was also second in the 100m B and third in the hammer and discus.

Jane Anderson won the 400m B and was runner-up in the 1,500m B, as was Kate Haley in the A race but improved her season best to 5mins 26secs. Sheila Williams finished second in the 2km B walk.

Carol Walder, star of the league's second meeting last month, won the over 45s 100m and long jump before finishing third in the 2km walk.

Despite injury, Rita Brownlie won the over 45s discus with a new club record throw of 16.82m. Polly Gerner won the 100m A, Ann Stuart was third in the 400m A while the relay team won the medley relay.

In the men's events, Mike Jones won the over 50s shot putt, was runner-up in the discus and came third in the hammer. Clive Brown was third in the over 50s high jump and triple jump.
