WORCESTER produced their worst performance for a long time when they entertained Sutton Coldfield in Division One at Norton and were thrashed by nine wickets.

They only had themselves to blame after a dismal batting and bowling performance.

Although the pitch had spent most of the week under covers because of rain, there was little danger when Worcester batted first having been invited to do so by Sutton's skipper Rob Dandy.

Will Speer dismissed Tatendu Taibu and Andrew Mason in his first over and from then on it was all downhill for the home side.

Only Adam Binks (25) and Ian Stowe (22) showed any resistance as the home side were bundled out for a paltry 102 in only 35 overs.

Speer was the Sutton Coldfield hero, returning the magnificent figures of 6-37, his best figures of the season.

Defending such a small score, Worcester needed a top performance in the field, but it was not to be.

A succession of wides, no-balls and full tosses were dealt with severely by the visitors who needed only 14.3 overs to clinch their easy victory.

John Ship led trhe way with a quick-fire 58 to see his side home. Worcester were left with no points for their dismal display, while Sutton received 20.

Worcester's second team restored some pride to the club with a victory by 34 runs in the reverse fixture at Sutton Coldfield.

Batting first, Worcester made a modest 144-8 in their 50 overs with Alan Levy top scoring with 25 and Dorm Cook making a useful 24 not out.

Sutton's best bowler was Harold Harif with 4-49.

In reply Sutton lost wickets at regular intervals with Julien Rickman, Dorm Cook, Chris Franklin and Bryan Clarke all taking two wickets as Sutton were bowled out for 110.

Worcester secured 20 points for their victory while Sutton took three.
