CHESS: Jim Friar recorded his best victory of the season as Kidderminster Knights kept on course for the Worcester and District League Division One championships with a 2.5-1.5 success at Malvern.
Friar completely tied down his experienced opponent to win and his team-mates all registered drawn games.

They also reached the semi-final of the league's Knockout Cup after a 3.5-2 home victory over Worcester Bishops.
The score included a 1.5 handicap as Worcester play in Division Two.
