A "SNARLING" and "aggressive" dog chased the neighbour's children around a driveway after he made a dash from his home.

Oliver, the collie cross, escaped from Angela Speed's house after her children left one of the doors open at around 10.30am on Sunday, February 10.

She had left the youngsters and her mother looking after him while she went out.

"The dog left the premises and was aggressive to the other family," said Liz Tweed, prosecuting at Worcester Magistrates' Court.

"There's an area of driveway and footpath that adjoins the two properties. The dog was suddenly in that area and was chasing the children.

"They were told by their father to stand still and the dog didn't bite them."

Speed, defending herself, said she bought Oliver from a refuge seven years ago.

The 38-year-old, of Worcester Road, Eardiston, Tenbury Wells, said Oliver was a good dog.

"We're using a muzzle now," she said.

Speed admitted Oliver had been out of control.

Magistrates ordered her to keep him under proper control and put a muzzle on him.

Speed was ordered to pay £55 costs and increase the height of her fence to stop Oliver jumping out.
