BARBOURNE man Craig Walker attacked his ex-girlfriend after accusing her of trying to poison him.

Later, the 27-year-old hurled a box through the window of a stranger's house and shouted abuse at police, Worcester magistrates heard.

Julie Rosamond, prosecuting, said Walker assaulted his partner of six years, Rachel Hammett, when he went to her house to visit their three-year-old son, Bradley.

She said Miss Hammett thought he was in a good mood when he arrived on Saturday, April 20, but he became threatening.

"He accused her of trying to poison him when they'd been living together," she said.

"She ignored him and carried on watching television, but he flipped and started punching her head with both fists."

He hit Miss Hammett 10 to 12 times, before running off, leaving her bruised.

On Wednesday, May 1, police were called to Shrubbery Road, where Walker had hurled a box through a window.

While officers were looking for him, he walked into Worcester Police Station and confessed.

He told them he had done it to get attention because he was depressed and wanted help.

Walker had been drinking at Le Mango nightclub in Angel Place in the early hours of Saturday, June 1.

He hurled insults at police outside the club, calling them "paedophile pigs" and making "V" signs. They used CS gas to bring him under control.

Walker, of Shrubbery Avenue, admitted all three offences.

Mark Sheward, defending, said Walker, who was now seeing a psychiatrist, needed help.

"He accepts what he did, but his psychiatric condition must have played some part," he said.

"It is anticipated that he will get back together with his partner, but she won't consider it until he gets help."

Magistrates sentenced Walker to a two-year rehabilitation order.

He was also ordered to pay £176 compensation for damaging the window.
