KIDDERMINSTER lost out on the final ball as West Bromwich Dartmouth claimed a three-wicket win in their Birmingham League Division One clash.

The game became a 38-over affair after a two-hour delay because of wet weather.

And after Dartmouth won the toss and put Kidderminster in on a damp wicket, they were always favourites to win the match.

By the 17th over, the visitors were 38-5 having lost opener Mark Mansell for four and Gurdeep Kandola for five. Mandeep Singh was out first ball and Richard Bradford was also an early casualty.

Mansell's opening partner -- 15-year-old wicket-keeper Steve Davies -- fared far better and was finally out in the 17th over for 24.

The tide turned and Kidderminster skipper Sean Lloyd and Ted Baylis put on 75 for the sixth wicket in 17 overs. Lloyd was out for 32 but Baylis ended unbeaten on 70, an innings which included five sixes and three fours as Kidderminster posted 146-6.

Baylis then struck in the first over with a caught and bowled. He took his second wicket in the 13th over when Andrew Siwicki took his eighth catch of the season as Dartmouth wobbled at 32-2.

However, they recovered and were 80-3 in the 24th over when Davies claimed a stumping. Baylis then took his third wicket before capturing Zimbabwean Test player Dion Ebrahim for 57 when he was caught by Mansell (132-5). With 15 needed off three overs, it still looked like a home win but it was to be a final-ball finish.

With two needed from the final over, Singh conceded one run off the first ball before grabbing two wickets to set the cat amongst the pigeons.

With one ball left, the scores were tied but a boundary ended Kidderminster's hopes.

Baylis was undoubtedly the man of the match, however, finishing with 4-40 to go with his fluent 70.
