IT would not have been a traditional British event without a bit of rain, and true to form, those taking part refused to let a bit of precipitation spoil their fun.
Up went the umbrellas and hoods and those planning to picnic at the street party in Vicar Street in Kidderminster on Monday simply got on with it. Among those celebrating were Maria Harris, of Goldthorn Road, Kidderminster.
"The weather was a bit of a letdown," said Mrs Harris, "but everyone enjoyed themselves and the children looked forward to the clowns."
