A CLEANING products company that started with three employees is set to see turnover soar to around £2m this year.

Express Cleaning Supplies, in Malvern, is going from strength to strength.

The company's website receives 600,000 visits each month and the sales team has just doubled from three to six people. Turnover has doubled every year for the past three years.

"We recently shipped material off to a hospital in the Falklands, which had found out about us through our website," said Adrian Bates. He was employed last year to take the company's marketing strategy forward.

Mr Bates, 28, was a professional tennis coach in Pershore for four years, but wanted to go back into marketing, having studied the subject at university.

"We have also had enquiries from Fulham Football Club and Maxim magazine. They wanted some information on some brushes - I didn't ask why!" he added.

The company's strength is innovation. Its website has won several e-commerce awards and innovative marketing ideas - such as providing the company's product brochure on CD - keeps it at the front of the pack.

In March, it was a finalist in the Innovation Leader of the Year category at the inaugural Business Festival 2002 awards, held at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern.

The company was set up in 1991 by Mike Boxall, managing director, and Steve Dempster, sales director, who started supplying local pubs, clubs and restaurants with cleaning products.

Four years ago there were just the two of them and one salesman. Now the company employs 17 people at its head office and showroom on Malvern Common.
