GAVIN Pfister has joined Worcester Rugby Club's ever increasing South African contingent at Sixways.
The open-side flanker, who holds a British passport, has been snapped up by director of rugby John Brain.
The 28-year-old made it into Western Province's Currie Cup squad four years ago before tearing knee cartilage. After coming back from injury he enjoyed Super 12 experience with the Stormers alongside the likes of Percy Montgomery.
Pfister's arrival, however, means no playing contract for Nathan Carter. The former Gloucester man is likely to be offered a developmental role within the club but is not required on the pitch next season.
Greg Meredith has also been released from Sixways primarily because of his overseas status.
"It was a bizarre situation to have such a young player like Greg taking up one of the overseas berths," said Brain.
Brain also added academy players hooker Stuart Pearl and scrum-half Tom Richardson to the first-team squad for next season.
