BLUE nose Mike Foster was a happy man on Monday, following Birmingham City's promotion to the Premiership.
He was so delighted, in fact, that he could wait no later than 7.54am to ring and tell me about the club's nail-biting penalty shootout win over Norwich City.
Mike, who managed to lay his hands on a ticket for the Cardiff play-off final, gushed: "It was absolutely amazing, fantastic."
As a Sheffield United fan, I could have been slightly grumpy about Mike's enthusiastic early morning call.
After all, promotion was won with a manager, Steve Bruce, and winger, Paul Devlin, who left United in ever so slightly acrimonious circumstances.
But I decided to be noble. After all Mike, who also tabled an Early Day Motion celebrating the win, had been waiting 16 long years to make that telephone call...
