COLWALL U11s travelled to Barnards Green for their first game of the season.
COLWALL U11s v BARNARDS GREEN U11s
Batting first, Colwall found runs difficult to come by against an accurate attack. However despite losing wickets opener O'Toole and Jennings batted sensibly as did Hitchen making his debut. It was left to the last pair of Hylands and Bishop to step up the scoring with 6 boundaries and take Colwall to 235.
Colwall's bowlers knew they needed to bowl tightly to restrict the home side, and openers Coffey and Hylands did just that. Coffey with one early wicket and then Chapman pinned the home side back. Barnards Green then picked up the tempo and it needed some tight fielding by Colwall, especially by Giess behind the stumps, to keep them in the game.
However with late wickets by Taylour and Hylands, the match swung again, producing an exciting last over. With one more wicket for Coffey and one run for Barnards Green, the match was tied, with both sides taking credit for their efforts.
