MALVERN Cinema is hosting another mini season of the more interesting offerings from the world of film.
The series opens on Wednesday, May 22, with Mulholland Drive (15), the latest offering from the dependably weird mind of David Lynch.
Lynch, who brought us Blue Velvet and the cult TV series Twin Peaks, turns his unflinching gaze away from smalltown America towards Hollywood Babylon.
Would-be star Diane moves to LA and falls in love with fellow actress Rita, but envy and jealousy soon take hold as only one of them rises to stardom.
Mulholland Drive won best director at last year's Cannes, and was nominated for four Golden Globes.
Todd Field's directorial debut In The Bedroom (15) is showing on Wednesday May 29.
Sissy Spacek was nominated for a best actress Golden Globe for her role as Ruth Fowler, a controlling mother whose world falls apart when her son dies.
On Wednesday, June 5, it is The Son's Room, (La Stanza del Figlio) (12) directed by Nanni Moretti.
This Italian film with English subtitles, described as an "extraordinary uplifting comedy" dealing with personal loss, won the 2001 Palme D'Or at Cannes.
The season concludes on June 12 with From Hell (18), a look at the Jack the Ripper murders, starring Johnny Depp.
All screenings are in the Forum at 8.15pm.
