Liam Killeen, fresh from his fourth place in the National Under-23 Road Race Championships, won the Worcester St John's Cycling Club 10-mile time trial.

Killeen blasted round the course in 22.58, well ahead of second-placed Dave Walker with 25.12. Further back were Nick Toy 25.30, Steve Potter 25.46 and John McLelland 29.10.

Fastest veteran was Mark Brazier in 26.39 closely followed by Les Bailey in 26.56.

Best of the women riding was Maureen Burrows in 27.04, followed by Sarah Emmerson 27.25 and Gail Flannagan 29.40.

Worcester's Adrian Bird (Arctic 2000) took fourth place in the 58-mile Jean Baker Memorial road race at Stourport.

A nine-man break went clear on the first of four laps. With some of the better riders including top veteran Neil Martin and Stourbridge CC's Tim Wood missing the move, the 30-man chasing group kept the pace high in the hope that they would catch the nine leaders.

The lead group worked well to stay a minute clear of the chase the whole race.

Chris Anealy (VC Voodoo) attacked the break on the final climb at Astley and held on to win by two seconds from Matthew Larner (Lichfield City), with Matthew Carmellotti (Royal Sutton) third. Steve Hulme (Team Velocity) led in the chasing group a minute down in 10th place.
