CLUB AC 30 lifted their second trophy of the season overcoming Kempsey United 2-1 to claim the Malvern Football League Sunday Senior Cup.

This was an epic encounter throughout, a fitting finale to an exciting season in the Malvern League as the two teams finishing second and third respectively in the table gave the large crowd a fine game of football.

Within five minutes of the start it was 1-0 to Club AC 30, with their second corner in succession the ball floated into the penalty area where Jason Payton-Smith's header saw the ball deflected past keeper Will Eccleston and through a melee of players.

With the first half into five minutes injury time it was a fine breakaway from United which gave them the equaliser through Simon Vaughan.

Club AC 30 made the better of the conditions in the second half with Jon Hayward showing his skilful touch on a number of occasions to skip past the Kempsey United defence in his midfield role and Danny Morris testing United keeper Eccleston on a few occasions with his long range shots.

In the 70th minute, arguably a fitting finish for a cup final, a superb goal was scored by Daniel Hayward, his volley from almost 35 yards out couldn't be stopped as the ball flew into the left hand corner to take a 2-1 lead.

In the dying minutes Kempsey United looked to have equalised but their effort hit the top of the cross bar and bounced to safety.

The final whistle soon was heard and Club AC 30 lifted the Sunday Senior Cup, presented to captain Jason Payton-Smith by the League chairman Norman H Simmons.

Nick Kendick of Club AC 30 was voted man of the match, but all players and officials should be congratulated for a fine performance, a credit to local football.
