THIS letter is a little nostalgia prompted by seeing this result in the sports section of my paper, Wolverhampton Utd 1, Ledbury Town 1. It brought back a lot of memories as kids on holiday at Wellington Heath, football in the evening until dark on Swallow Meadow. Great days.

In 1941 my father's sister invited us to come and live with her which we accepted and my wife came too.

I worked on building sites and my father and wife at the G.A.E. aircraft factory until Ledbury Town wanted a goalkeeper so, as I was a pretty good one, I was accepted. I enjoyed it until called up.

I hope Ledbury and the beautiful countryside hasn't changed and the pubs are still as good as ever, the Ring of Bells, Talbot, Plough, Vine Tap and Brewery Tap, to name a few. Also the Farmers Arms, in Wellington Heath, where I played a few games when I was demobbed.

My mother and father bought a house called 'Hazelwood' and we returned to London but have since moved down to Worthing.

I have written this letter because memories came flooding back when I saw the name of Ledbury.

Great people, great little town, great countryside, nice football ground and the pub outside was named the Full Pitcher.
