FURTHER to the recent letter regarding the increase in the price of residents' parking discs, I feel that your readers should know our council has also discovered a fiendishly clever method of extracting even more revenue from them.
From their date of expiry in April - the discs, sadly not the council - myself and many other residents who, due entirely to an oversight, failed to renew these discs, received parking fines on our vehicles.
Surely it would have been more appropriate from a council supposedly committed to revitalising Malvern town centre, to have been advised the discs were out of date and that fines would have been waived on their immediate renewal.
I did appeal against the fine, having renewed my disc, sadly unsuccessfully. I have today paid the £20 with a written request that it is not used for any more monuments to bad taste, retirement packages or any other ill-conceived excesses the council might come up with to justify our exorbitant Council Tax.
A few seats actually in the shade, in the park would be nice, not to mention the occasional pooper scoop bin, except of course I presume, should we grow tired of clutching our pooper scoop bag and not bother to clean up after our dog, any fines incurred would go to - you've guessed it - the council.
