WE enjoyed an exceptional Civic Walk last Sunday afternoon in beautiful spring sunshine. Over the years it has become a spontaneous mums, dads, kids and dogs outing along the best of our footpaths.

The bluebells in Frith Wood were sheets of deepest blue and the view from the top of Bradlow Knoll was unanimously voted 'best in Herefordshire'.

The object of this letter is to thank the Ledbury Reporter for covering this annual event so well; to acknowledge that without Edward Bill's help with car parking the walk would have been a non-starter; to say, lastly, that for a chap hardly able to hobble along, with no knowledge of map reading, our amiable mayor, Phill Bettington, did brilliantly in leading 70 walkers for four miles, only losing one - me, who couldn't keep up!

I must tell you that we raised oodles of the shiny stuff for really worthwhile local good causes and, to my personal satisfaction, several walkers called in at the Tourist Information Centre on their way home to buy maps so they could do their own walks along our 20 miles of footpaths.
