Churches in the Upton area are to raise money for a struggling school in one of the poorest areas of Kenya.
The Kibera School is in a slum area on the outskirts of Nairobi with no water or sanitation. It relies on gifts to help educate 130 children aged three to 13.
It is hoped the funds raised will be used to buy children's books, clothing and help provide more permanent buildings and toilets.
As well as 16 churches in the Church of England's Upton Deanery, local schools will be taking part in a series of fundraising events after the appeal is launched at 3pm on Sunday (May 19), at Upton Parish Church.
The first will be a faith lunch on Sunday, June 16, at Bushley Village Hall, followed by an auction of promises. For more information, contact Lambert Bignell on 01684 592156 or Rev Dr Chris Hardwick on 01684 591241. Donations for the appeal should be sent to Appeals Office, The Rectory, Old Street, Upton on Severn, WR8 0JQ, or call 01684 591241.
