THREE new memorials to the war dead were unveiled in Worcester Cathedral at this time half-a-century ago.
The Journal explained that the memorials were a stained glass window in St George's Chapel, in memory of the men and women of Worcestershire in all branches of the Services who fell in the 1939-45 War, and two bronze tablets, one commemorating the officers and men of the Queen's Own Worcestershire Hussars who gave their lives in the last war, and the other to the officers and men of the Worcestershire units of the Royal Regiment of Artillery who died in both world wars.
The memorials were unveiled by the Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire, Admiral Sir William Tennant, and dedicated by the Bishop of Worcester, Dr W. Wilson Cash.
