This hard won victory saw Wanderers complete the season unbeaten in all 24 matches, scoring 83 goals and keeping 16 clean sheets.

Both keepers were in action during the first half but there was no score at the interval.

IN this end-of-season U9s George Goode Trophy final showpiece occasion, a beautiful sunny day and a large expectant crowd greeted the two proud teams as they appeared from the tunnel of the Langland Stadium.

This was the first time that Wanderers had been to a cup final, and early on their nerves showed. When the half time whistle came the match was still goalless.

The second half began as the first half had ended, with the defences on top and the keepers with little to do. In an effort to break the stalemate Adam Green was introduced to the Wanderers attack and within minutes he etched his place into Wanderers history when he broke free into the box and unleashed an unstoppable shot to give his side the lead.

Rangers pushed their players forward in an attempt to force an equaliser and Wanderers were forced to defend across the midfield and every player worked hard to keep them at bay. When the final whistle came all 10 Wanderers players embraced and began bouncing up and down shouting "We won the cup".

WELLAND'S last game of the season in the Mercian Elgar U15s Junior League saw them stretch their unbeaten run to 15 league games.

Tom Holland's concise passing was carving open the Norton defence but Welland's strikers failed to capitalise on these opportunities until 20 minutes into the game Dave Hollingsworth tapped a ball in at the far post. Two more goals, two more goals from Joe Taylor and Gareth Witts made it 3-0 at half time.

Norton weren't beaten yet and started the second half brightly with some neat passing football in midfield that was rewarded with a goal Welland responded by increasing their work rate and goals from Gerald Chance and Gareth Witts made it 5-1 to the home side. A fitting end to a season full of memorable games and great victories.

NEWTOWN SPORTS BOYS 10

NEWTOWN Sports Boys travelled to Droitwich for their last game of the Mercian Elgar U11s Junior League season.

With the final league positions already decided Newtown were able to play without any pressure which reflected in the way they went about the game.

From the start they passed the ball around with great confidence and only minutes into the game Marc Twinberrow put Newtown into the lead with his first of four goals, next on the score sheet was Ollie Lean with his first of three.

With the second half starting as the first had finished Newtown kept up the pressure and it wasn't long before Lee Mason got on the score sheet for his first of two goals. The goal of the game came after a Lean corner found Ian Puffet just inside the area to volley home.

Newtown Sports Boys would like to thank team sponsors Premier Letting for their support over the season.
