A CIRCUS with a difference is coming to town next week with a show which bridges boundaries between art and science.

The NoFit State Circus is fast-forwarding to the future with its thrilling and thought-provoking show Sci Circus.

The show is being presented by Malvern Fringe, with financial assistance from QinetiQ and the Lottery Awards For All fund.

A big top, housing a world of invention and creativity, will be set up in the grounds of the youth centre, Albert Road North. Traditional circus skills will be employed to illustrate scientific concepts, so that acrobatics explain gravity, juggling the idea of forces and trapeze the processes of motion.

Before the show, visitors can explore the hands-on science exhibits and take part in entertaining demonstrations.

In a two-hour show, Sci Circus plunders the insights of scientists, raids the dramatic conventions of the theatre, steals the razzmatazz of the circus and borrows from the innovations of the multimedia artist.

The show opened earlier this month in Cardiff, home of NoFit State Circus, and Malvern is only its third booking.

Later in the year, its nationwide tour takes it to Glastonbury Festival, among other venues.

The aim of Sci Circus is to increase public interest in science in technology in a fun and informal way.

NoFit State Circus is an award-winning company with 12 years' experience of touring throughout Europe.

During this time it has won an international reputation for innovative, exciting and highly accessible circus theatre.

It has been in the vanguard of a British renaissance of large-scale circus theatre spectacle, fusing traditional circus skills and spectacle with drama, dance, music, film and new technologies.

Sci Circus is giving performances for schools on Thursday, May 23, and Friday, May 24. Tickets have gone so well that there is only room for one more school party, at the Thursday afternoon showing.

Tickets are still available for the public showings on Saturday, May 25 at 3pm and 7pm, and on Sunday, May 25 at 3pm. Priced £2.50, they are available from the Amnesty bookshop in Edith Walk. For details, call 01684 561017.
