A TOP band tipped for this week's Number One slot will be wowing crowds when they play at a major music event in Worcester.

Liberty X has announced they will be playing at the Wyvern FM XS 2002 event at Worcestershire Cricket Club.

The five-strong band, whose single Just a Little has been tipped to reach Number One in the charts this Sunday, are being billed as the hottest new act around.

Originally known as the five pop hopefuls who failed to get into Hear'Say they now look set to take the charts by storm.

"We are overwhelmed with all the support we have had from bands," said Dean Roberts, festival co-ordinator at Wyvern FM.

"Liberty X will be one of the biggest groups this year.

"People that would have seen them on pop stars may have thought Hear'Say were going to be big but Liberty X will be the big pop stars.

"Everybody called them the flop stars but they will be the pop stars."

Seven thousand tickets have been snapped up for the XS 2002 pop event, supported by the Evening News, where artists already confirmed include Brit Award winners Blue, former members of Steps, H and Claire, Pop Idol loser Rik Waller, and boy bands 3SL and Aurora.

The XS 2002 pop concert is taking place at Worcestershire County Cricket Club on Sunday, June 2, and a classical music event, the Classical Picnic & Proms, held in association with radio station Classic FM, will be held at the same venue the following day.

Tickets are available from the ticket hotline on 08708 400 400. They can also be obtained from Worcestershire County Cricket Club; Courtyard Theatre, Hereford; Huntingdon Hall, Worcester, Kidderminster Harriers Football Club and tourist information centres around Worcestershire - Hereford, Ledbury, Evesham, Worcester, Malvern, Upton-upon-Severn, Bewdley and Bromsgrove.
