EIGHTIES pop star Toyah is reportedl joining a protest rally with residents fighting the siting of an asylum centre in Throckmorton.

Adrian Molloy, agent for the Birmingham-born star, said Toyah, who bought a home in the heart of Pershore in January, will be at Sunday's rally from noon.

The rally is being held at the airfield and marks the beginning of a new campaign to stop the scheme.

expected at the rally, which will be addressed by Mid-Worcestershire MP Peter Luff. Objectors plan to force a public inquiry into the proposals.

The move has been sparked by the Government's decision to site a reception centre for asylum seekers on the Throckmorton airfield, where 130,000 animal carcases were buried during the foot-and-mouth crisis.
