EVESHAM players were again at the forefront of Worcestershire County's battle for survival to stay in division three.

In the B games, Carol Jones, saw off her opponent in straight legs. Both Rachel Leeming and Claire Hill were unlucky to lose in the fifth leg.

Rob Heming opened the men's B with a 3-1 win including a 106 game shot which earned an average of 26.00.

Simon Webb, won 3-1 for a match award winning average of 28.81.

A 10-8 result after the first day's play meant the A teams had to build on the slender lead.

Tracey Bishop, a popular and consistent thrower, earned the match award for a cool finish in the fifth leg of her game for an average of 19.09.

Rachel Dixon, scored well and was unlucky to lose out in the fifth. She received the award for last month's divisional average and ended the season as women's Super League champion which softened the blow.

In the men's A, Lance Greg-son won 3-1 with an average of 21.52. He has recently taken the Astwood Bank and Studley mixed pairs titles partnered by Helen Wood.

Worcestershire not only had to win against Wiltshire but win well. The team performed under pressure to win 22-14 which made sure that the county stay in Division Three.

Bourton & District League

THE Royal British Legion at Bourton-on-the-Water saw a good turnout last Friday as teams from the village's A and B Leagues contested the House Champions and Ladies' Singles competitions.

The former was won by Matty Joynes of the Legion A team, beating Andy Coventry of Rissington SSC - a match that was a repeat of the men's singles final earlier held earlier this year.

The ladies' singles culminated in a tense final, eventually won by Clair Evans of Sherborne Social Club's A team.

The winner defeated Gill Hurrell 2-0, the second leg being won in just 15 darts.

Presentation night takes place at Bourton RBL on Finals Night, on Friday, May 24.
