EVESHAM Sailing Club held its first round of the annual competition against Arden SC.
The event is three races over the day each of well over an hour with five boats from each team competing for the Avon trophy.
This was Evesham's home leg with the away tie being held late in September.
The conditions were light fickle winds that seemed to change direction continuously which made it difficult to set the sails to get the best out of the boats.
However, the home team were very strong and took the first five places in two of the events and the first three in the last which has given them a healthy lead to take to Arden in the return match.
This coming Sunday is an open day at the Common Road Club and anybody who is interested in sailing will be most welcome. There will be no competitive sailing.
